At the moment, everyone's opinion is based solely on the trailer and the BBFC report and we really know nothing about the quality of the script, acting, direction, score, set design etc, so are in no position to comment on the quality of the film. The subject matter may be repulsive and extremely distasteful, but that doesn't mean it's badly made.
My opinion is, of course, only based on the trailer - but I'm perfectly sure that the movie is equally bad. Why? Because I know what I like, and I definitely don't like this piece of...well, I already said that.

But as this turns into a discussion about film taste, we better go back to the original topic.

Does The Bunny Game (or the trailer) look like a cheap and inept move? - Most certainly.
Should the BBFC ban it because of its subject and its sensational tone? - Definitely not.

Greetings!

Isn't most of what we discuss on this site considered cheap and inept by mainstream standards?

The trailer may not have been put together by the filmmakers themselves, trailers are usually put together by the distributor. That may be different in this case. It might be a bad film....or it might be good. Who knows? None of us do, that's for sure.

Imagine a trailer for Cannibal Holocaust that featured only the violence, sexual violence, and animal slaughter. Then imagine showing that trailer to someone and saying you like/have the film. Watch their reaction. Right now, your reaction is that reaction.

Default it's a little bit bunny

it's getting a bit heated on here and i can see merit in both sides of the arguement heres my tuppence worth;

1) censorship bad
2) censorship pointless, you can probably find any banned film online uncut
3) it's true you cant entirely judge a film by a trailer but the brains a funny thing like a fussy child i cant feed mine romantic comedies or transformers (live action) films without it spewing all owa the place.so i cant blame people judging the film by the trailer.
4) i think the film looks awful but i will end up watching it because my daft brain see's the word banned as a dare.
6) dont panic! some people seem to be treating it like snuff it's not real.

poor old tom six , after trying so hard to sicken seems he has been out trumped

Is that from the film? Disgraceful, no wonder it's been banned.

The difference is Mary Whitehouse got people to edit other people's films to show them out of context. As was the case for soft shining edit. Both these examples are what other people have done to take a film out of context.
The Bunny Game trailer I am assuming was put together by those involved in the filming. To try and sell it. So they use a death metal soundtrack, quick edits of sexual violence and then round it off by flash up glittering words including RAPE...TORTURE...ANAL... This, whatever way you look at it makes the film look cheap and juvenile.
...just like the trailers for ISOYG, LHOTL, Srpski, L&DOAPG then?
