Default Weekly Comp - Deadly Blessing - 20/11/2011 - FINISHED

I can't believe it's ALREADY the 20th of Nov! Jeeez - I haven't even sorted out one Xmas pressie!

Anyway, whilst I worry about that here's this week's competition...

WES CRAVEN DIRECTS SHARON STONE IN THIS 80s HORROR CLASSIC.

Starring a stunningly youthful and beautiful Sharon Stone (Casino; Basic Instinct; Total Recall) in her first ever speaking role, alongside Ernest Borgnine (Escape From New York;[B] The Wild Bunch), Michael Berryman (The Devil's Rejects; The Hills Have Eyes) and Maren Jensen (Battlestar Galactica), Deadly Blessing sees director Wes Craven (A Nightmare On Elm Street; Scream) moving away from the uncompromising ferocity of his first two features (The Last House On The Left and The Hills Have Eyes) and instead focusing on a far more brooding and atmospheric kind of terror.

In an attempt to distance himself from the strict religious Hittite community in which he was raised – one that rejects all the trappings of modern life – Jim Schmidt (Douglas Barr) has married a headstrong city girl, Martha (Maren Jensen), and left the sect. When Jim is involved in a tragic and highly mysterious accident, the close-knit community shuns Martha leaving her to seek the comfort of two old college friends, Lana (Sharon Stone) and Vicky (Susan Buckner), who come to stay with her during her time of mourning. As the three friends begin to unlock the mystery surrounding Jim's death, it becomes apparent there is a diabolical killer in their midst who may be hiding deep within the local God-fearing community.

Fondly remembered by horror fans for its many key set-pieces (particularly one featuring a snake in a bathtub and a terrifying waking-dream sequence involving a very large spider and a wide-open mouth that serves as a notable precursor to Craven's masterful A Nightmare On Elm Street), Deadly Blessing is a tense and thrilling old-school horror film that is ripe for reassessment in an age when horror fans are more-often-than-not simply being bludgeoned into submission by barrages of grisly images served up as entertainment.

Deadly Blessing (cert. 15) will be released on DVD (£15.99) by Arrow Video on 14th November 2011.

Special Features
Introduction by star Michael Berryman; “Craven Images: The Horror Hits of Michael Berryman” – an interview with Deadly Blessing’s iconic star; “Deadly Desires” – an interview with screenwriter Glenn M. Benest; original trailer; Easter eggs; reversible sleeve with original and newly commissioned artwork by Rue Morgue art director Gary Pullin; double-sided fold-out artwork poster; collectors’ booklet featuring brand new writing on the film by author and critic Kim Newman; original 1.78:1 anamorphic aspect ratio presentation; original mono 1.0 audio.

DEADLY BLESSING IS OUT ON DVD ON THE 28TH NOVEMBER! PRE-ORDER YOURS HERE!

Details on how to win will follow shortly!

Kyle

Rightio, here's how to win this incredible film...

This here comp is influenced by the http://www.cult-labs.com/forums/dead...g-artwork.html thread so swing by there if you haven't already.

Everyone's heard of the 'There was an old woman who shallowed a fly...' rhyme. Right? If not here's a reminder as only The Muppets could do it -

But the rhyme left one important fact out. After each thing she swallowed she answered a question! Questions that got tougher as they went along.

The competition will work like this -

Here's the first modified Deadly Blessing poster...

And the question to go with it (the easiest of them all)...

Q: Name the John Hughes film one of the most recognised Deadly Blessing actors stared in.

If you know the answer, simply PM me it!

Once someone has PMed me the correct answer, I'll post up the next picture (There was an old woman who swallowed a bird...) with a tougher question.

Then do the same for that. And so on.

Note - you have to answer each question before you can move onto the next.

There's 7 rounds in total. The three winners will either be randomly picked from the three who managed to make it past #7 or the three who get the furthest.

Hope that makes sense,

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

Kyle

Quite a few people got the first Question correct already! (If you haven't yet entered, fear not, there's no time limit to these questions).

So let's crank up the toughness with the next stage...

Q2: Carrying on with the bird theme (Craven is a bird watcher), what film of his does this section of a poster belong to?

Remember for your answer to this question to count, you must have gotten the previous answer correct too.

And don't forget, the internet is your friend.
