Yes that's unforunately in response to their latest public consultation. Personally I think things were fine as they were although obviously I don't see every film that comes out. Despite the typically negative media coverage over the 12a rating for The Dark Knight last year, the good news is that the rating would remain the same today. The guidelines for the 15 and 18 rating would appear to be totally unchanged.

I was looking at their new guidelines and it does appear the BBFC will be getting more strict in regards to violence, horror, drugs and language in 15 films.

I'm still waiting to see if they will still allow several uses of the f-word in the 12a category. Controversial in the past.

PATHETIC!! , they need to grasp the facts of life and grow up themselves.

I know more rude Lil sods at age 12-15 who use the F and vile C word more than all the adults I know combined, yet they are worried a swear word will corrupt their ickle innocent vocabulary's.

And you NEVER heaven forbid would see a teen In a fight or being violent these days would you??.., Drama Queens at BBFC strike again.

They shouldn't be toughning up after the insults they made to our faves of the 80's and 90's they should be moving with the times and easing up, try talking to ADULTS you flamin Yahoos!!

That's what this public consultation is about every 4 years, listening to what the public have to say, and the feedback they have recieved this time around is that they have been getting a little too liberal with some of the ratings they have been awarding certain films in the lower categories. So that's why they are toughening up a little here.

Personally I think they should have kept things as they were, in fact if anything, got even more liberal with films classified PG to 15. But I knew this was likely to happen after the way they were criticised for passing films like The Dark Knight with a 12a (another media witchhunt last year directed at the BBFC). And also War of the Worlds and Casino Royale a few years earlier.

Anyway every years Mediawatch UK accuse the BBFC of being out of touch with the public by passing films like Antichrist uncut well of course the BBFC will say their guidelines are in direct response to the public.

We'll see how things pan out though, because you often hear the BBFC say things like they are going to classify more stringently and yet in the end there really isn't that much of a difference.

Fortunately the 18 will remain unchanged. Very little is cut for this rating these days.

Mediawatch UK? Who runs that,Whitehouse's grandaughter?
Imagine complaining about ANTICHRIST being passed uncut.Do these clowns think that films like this are going to cause possessions in the country's teenagers?
People like us who live in the real world KNOW that the only things the nation's chavs/neds/neandrathals/knuckledraggers are possessed by are class A drugs,Buckfast and MD 20/20.....

BTW,did you know that NED is an acronmyn for NON EDUCATED DELINQUENT?

What does CHAV stand for?
