Default Video Nasties forever!

With media in the spotlight once again, being blamed by knee jerk MPs and sensation seeking newspapers for all sorts of societal ills, in particular the rise in youth crime, it seems that the Shameless label is launching at just the right time. The movies we'll be releasing are just the kind of cinematic fare that bothered so called right thinking people when video was in it's infancy. Whenever new technology falls into the hands of everyone, normally when the price of equipment drops, the first thing we as a culture do is fill the new void with porn and violence. This has been true since man painted on cave walls or when Victorian gentlemen exchanced claudestine packages containing saucy pictures of prostitutes and it's even more true now that the internet allows everyone to indulge themselves in what ever form of depravity floats their boat. The movies our label celebrates don't find any love from critics or censors but they deserve to be seen and with rumours of new, draconian laws in the UK relating to our freedom to view whatever we want to see, it seems we may become unlikely torch bearers for horror entertainment.

Smile Greetings.

Hello,
I've been a fan of horror for most of my life and was fortunate enough to have witnessed the golden age of Horror (pre-Video Recordings Act) during the late 70's and early 80's. Personal favourites include 'Dawn of the dead', 'Zombie flesh eaters' and 'The Bogeyman'. I now look forward to seeing which unreleased/forgotten gems are being resurrected by Shameless Films and wish everybody involved much success.

Thank you Mouse!

You may find this forum a tad empty at the mo - we've not started promoting the site yet - just making sure everything works but are delighted to have our first member!

I too love Dawn of the Dead. Not only is it the best zombie film ever made (in my humble opinion) but also a truly great film. Action, horror, epic qualities, drama - it's a rare film that has it all!

We're very much inspired by crazy old video tapes that allowed us to discover all sorts of gems early into the mornings so hope to bring some of that spirit of discovery to a whole new generation and to those in the know finally you can get the films in your local HMV rather than waiting for imports.

Do tell us what you like and don't as the label progresses and we'll do what we can to please!

Hi!

I too have been a fan of horror for most of my life although I'm too young to remember the horror's golden age, with the Video Recordings Act coming into the world around the same time as myself! Instead I had to discover a lot of films simply by sitting up late or, more recently, ordering badly damaged cut copies off ebay. My own personal favourites include Argento's Deep Red and Suspiria, Romero's Dawn Of The Dead and Ruggero Deodato's Cannibal Holocaust. Although I don't mind some of the more recent Hollywood horrors, I just tend to find them a bit too slick and clean-cut. Which for me goes against what horror films are meant to be. Like Mouse, I can't wait to see what gems Shameless hunt out!

Sarah.

We have a large catalogue but you'll be pleased to know that among them is the previously banned Nunsploitation epic, Killer Nun and Giallo favourite Torso.

And every time you'll find someone who insists that it's the end of the world. The same type of people have been working themselves into a state over sex and violence ever since the printing press was invented... and we're all still here.
