Metalheads Unite! \m/ \m/

Well it seems we have quite a few metalheads on the Labs - which to be honest isn't much of a surprise.

So here is a thread dedicated to all things metal. From Heavy to Doom to Death to Black to Sludge to Djent to Alternative to Power and everything and anything in between.

What's your fav metal bands? Like metalcore (and all the other ...cores)? Seen many live? Greatest metal songs of all time. New releases! New tours! Metal news! This is the Cult Labs home for all that!

What better way to kick it off than the all time classic...

My first ever gig was the 1988 Monsters of Rock at Donington Park.
I was 16, when my parents found out on the tea time news that people had been crushed to death during Guns n' Roses set it was panic stations at home:eek:, however we at the festival new nothing about it.

The gig itself was brilliant, with Iron Maidens 7th son inspired set going down in history.

For me i had just seen some of the biggest bands in the history of metal.

One metal fan here! My tastes lean more towards anything atmospheric, depressive/ambient/shoegaze black metal, gothic/death/funeral doom, anything with a heavy Gothic/post-punk/industrial influence and also have a liking for old school thrash metal (as well as some of the better new bands such as Evile, Gama Bomb, Toxic Holocaust, etc).

Shameful plug, but I run a website a few of you may be interested in, MTUK METAL ZINE (some of it is a bit out of date as in the process of moving to Ave Noctum | Your No.1 Source For Extreme & Atmospheric Metal when our lazy web developer pulls his finger out!) and also write for Zero Tolerance magazine and ZT Mag Homepage

Similar panic erupted in our house when it was broadcast on BBC News that a riot was occuring at the Download Festival at Donington Park in 2006 (the second year I had attended the festival).

I didn't even realise a riot had occured! I was fast asleep in my tent!

Never heard of any of them , sorry

I would guess they sound a bit like Necrophagia ?

stefanmetal 8th May 2011 06:32 PM

Necrophagia are straight out death metal, whereas i'd say gut are more of a heavy filth laden rock band. Then rompeprop are basically grindcore.

I don't tend to go any deeper than Deicide, Mayhem, Cannibal Corpse, (Kill, was immense) and Carcass.

Looking forward to Morbid Angel's new cd, they have gone industrial i understand.
