According to those screengrabs the PQ on the Arrow release is ever so slightly sharper, you can see slightly more detail in the faces and stuff. Definitely the better of the two.

Same here regarding Arrow's Pieces and good call on the screen caps. Such still images do nothing for me when i'm trying to assess PQ.

Very nearly bought this just now on a double bill with Axe for £3 from CEX, thought I'd wait for the Arrow version as no doubt it'll be a damn sight better quality

The problems dvdbeaver highlight can only be illustrated with actual moving video clips not screen caps.... usually for comparisons I try my luck on youtube. Either way, even if pieces is inferior quality (which it won't be, its from the exact same source) its hardly a film to reccomend for its visual style!!

Still tons of fun and will sit nicely next to my grindhouse disc.

I'm sure it's a decision you won't regret and patience is certainly a virtue in this case.

I'll probably still pick it up just for Axe, but I'll definitely get the Arrow disc

I've never seen this film but that artwork is terrific. Makes me want to see it!

Pieces is definitely a personal favorite. Here's a review at Cinema Head Cheese : Cinema Head Cheese: Movie Review: Pieces (1982, Arrow)
