Default Cannibal Ferox! good or bad?!

Okey do, as this has come up in discussion in the worst movie thread, thought it'd be interesting to see how this exploitation classic fairs in a poll.

It's Italian style grindhouse cinema of the highest order, so I'd certainly rate it as good viewing, despite the obvious annimal cruelty issue makes it more of a "guilty pleasure", at least for me.

i love the film , the animal cruelty i could do without and it can be a bit cheezy at times but its still a great cannibal film

I hold more affection for Ferox than Cannibal Holocaust (even though Holocaust is probably the better movie), as it was the first Italian cannibal flick I ever saw. It's one of my favourite nasties, along with Zombie Flesh-Eaters.

I like it. Once you wade through the cheese there are some original gorey set pieces, genre standard nudity, some great character performances, and a nice bleak ending - what more can you ask for from an '80's cannibal flick?!

Its fun in a trashy way and the breast hook fx are excellent but the gore looks tame thesedays.

Same here and i was either 11 or 12 when a relative first loaned us an original copy of Lenzi's carnivorous splatfest. This would've been about '85 or '86 and i recall being blown away by the extreme graphic violence. The film really impressed me way back when and there's plenty to laugh at now especially John Morghen's sleazy cokehead villain.

I certainly never derive any humour from the animal cruelty footage, though and it's a criticism i have of all other Italian cannibal classics. They're generally good for the gore but not for the ill-treatment of our animal friends.
