For me Bruce Lee.Enter the Dragon is still one of the finest martial arts movies ever.
A stunning performer, whose life was cut tragically short.
However,I prefer Sonny Chiba to both of them.

I can't compare them, they're so different from one another! Bruce Lee made hard-hitting bone crunchers - Jackie Chan makes kids films!

Lee was about how many goons he could take out with one kick and how many men he can kill in one room, Chan is about how many vases he can break during a brawl and what crazy things he can slide down or over.

Also, Lee was rarely ever hit during his movies, Chan is rarely not getting a slap, roundhouse or chair to the face during his fights!

I loved Chan more when I was younger as his films appealed to me more, but Lee I respect more for what he accomplished. But I like them both equally as they are so different in my opinion.

And Tony Jaa is like the perfect hybrid of the two legends!

Have to say I like them both because they do completely different kinds of films. If I want some tough in your face hard hitting bone breaking action then I'd watch Bruce Lee. If I want crazy stunts and lessons in how to fight using just about anything including the kitched sink then it's Jackie. Its all about what kind of mood I'm in. Personally I'd go for Sammo Hung films if I want a bit of both.

I love watching Sammo do his thang, it never fails to amaze me when he cracks out the skills! But I still think Yuen Biao is better than them all, heh

Although Sammo's role in SPL was truly a pleasant surprise, and earned him some major kudos in my book.

Sammo Hung is very underated

Are we judging by films or the person?

Imo Lee is the king of the serious kung fu film whereas Chan is the king of the comedy kung fu film.

There's no doubt 'The Little Dragon' blazed the trail for all to follow.
But a serious flaw remains in Lee's choreography in that some of his opponents just stand there waiting to be hit. Just check out his films for further proof especially ETD which i think is totally overrated and imo is most definitely NOT 'the greatest martial arts movie ever made'.
There's many more kung fu classics i'd watch over Lee's major Hollywood hit.
ETD is not a bad effort just overrated.

Personally, i prefer Chan for his physical comedy, fight choreography, stuntwork and skills as a director.
I find myself coming back to his films more than i do Lee's. Both are peerless legends in my eyes. Lee for a more cerebral approach to martial arts filmmaking and Chan for a more lighthearted take on the genre.

Tony Jaa is astonishing imo and definitely the latest talent to watch out for.
Ong Bak and Warrior King may be as brainless as they come plot-wise but the ferocity of the action cannot be denied.
The 'bone-breaking' sequence in the latter film floats my boat everytime!

Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao must also have a well deserved mention here.
Another two all-time greats whose popularity, influence and impact should always be respected by dedicated HK cinema fans.
