Waiting on my copy of Blood Feast 2, but so far out of his most well known I would have to say The Gore Gore Girls. The film is actually incredibly funny in a proper intentional comedy way, not to mention the scene with the girl screaming : D

I thought the remake of WOG had enough feverish parody to be counted as one of best horror remakes for years. Directed by Jeremy Kasten, with some fascinating retro style, the remake is like a wacky Tim Burton version of Videodrome!

Personally I thought the remake was dire.

Difficult one this... there are many HGL flicks that I haven't seen (and probably wouldn't want to see! ) but, his films have a great schlocky charm to them. Out of the one's I've seen I think it's probably a toss up between Blood Feast and Two Thousand Maniacs! The Gore Gore Girls is a lot of fun and I have a soft spot for Blood Feast 2, but I think Blood Feast just wins for me.

The Gore Gore Girls I found to be HGL's most enjoyable film - it's kind of a Giallo spoof LOL!

The remake of 2000 maniacs is good, but you need to see the original. They didn't throw the barrel roll into the remake. That's my favorite part!

Today marks the 86th Birthday of the original master of shock, Herschell Gordon Lewis!

He's often credited as being the one who started it all with Blood Feast, with gore and blood being the big focus for the first ever time. Cinema was never the same!

So, here's to the great man. Bumping this thread and lets see... what are your thoughts on the films of H.G.Lewis?

Well, unless you want to be picky (Black Sunday cough), he is indeed the grandaddy of grue. Even though I voted for TGGG, Blood Feast I can sit and watch at any time, same as TTM. They have a charmless charm about them all........

I'm embarrased to say i have no idea who he is and i haven;t see any of his films. I do remember a mate raving about the film caled gore gore girls but i'm sure it looks like a crap porno to me when i saw the box so i never bothered with it? now i assume i was very wrong! lol - also at that time we rented a movie called 'monster man' from hollywood video and that was corny but great.
