| Having watched a few hooligan films over the last few nights,I was wondering what your favourite 'British hardnut' films were..... There's some powerful stuff out there, probably first pioneered by the late Alan Clarke and brought through to modern times from director's such as Nick Love... So who's the Daddy? Come and have a go if you think you're 'ard enough......

I voted for Scum as it was the only one of those films that I have seen! I think both versions are excellent. Thought Scrubbers was a good film too. None of the others have ever appealed to me. In particular, the football hooligan thing is a genre that mystifies me, I'm afraid. |

For me Clarke's three rule the roost. THE FIRM,SCUM and MADE IN BRITAIN. Depressing but powerful stuff. There's no comic relief moments here.....

| Scum is probably mine too though I found The Football Factory surprisingly good.

| Scum is brilliant and probably the most disturbing film of the lot! Rise of the Footsoldier is also very grim - tons of blood and gore! It also has the most realistic and frightening "Hooligan" fight scene out of all of the Hooligan films made. Worth a look.

| Scum and The Firm (Original of course.) I've seen all the films listed except the remake of The Firm and none of them have left any lasting impressions in the way those two powerful Alan Clarke dramas have.

Roth's performance in Made In Britain, was the personification of Thatcher's reign.

Still class. "McVicer" is good "Scum" is very good "Footsoldier" is very good. "Outlaw" stinks and who the hell even cares about the "Firm" remake? As for Thatcher's reign...ZZZZZZZZZZ. I had an okay time growing up in it thanks, and we weren't rich or privileged. The English working class are just as put down now as they ever were under Thatch. It was a damn sight better then the ghettoised/in-bred Chav filled/bow to the criminal, **** the victim/all our power gone to Europe/bleeding heart/backwards culture appeasing /religious black hole country we live in now. Even if we do have DVD's and iPods. There's plenty of Tim Roth's around today. Ya boo shucks! |
