Cannibal Holocaust definitely though the unneccesary animal cruelty stops it becoming a real classic IMO.A very powerful film regardless with a surprisingly good score.

I had to go with apocalypse just because of the memories i have of seeing it in the 80's, had the thread been what is the best... i would have gone with holocaust, but i remember when i first saw that shotgun death with the police approaching through the hole in his stomach when i was little...ohhhhhhh memories.

The animal cruelty is a demerit for me too. Otherwise it's certainly a powerful film and Ortolani's score (as per Mondo Cane) is brilliant by any standards.

It dosent ruin it for me , but I dont enjoy it.
Holocaust , according to Deodato was just a case of keeping the cameras rolling, which is fine by me, but films like Mountain of the Canibal god were most/all of the animal scenes were staged I would find more offensive.

Can we please not go down the cruelty road again and try and judge the films on their full RT and not just 2 - 3 mins.?

The animal cruelty didn't ruin the film for me in the slightest because it's a film I didn't like anyway. I'm not really a cannibal fan although I did like Apocalypse but that wasn't a genuine cannibal film anyway.

I liked the casting of John Saxon.

I'm not a fan of the cannibal genre either. I prefer zombie or slasher films.
