Default Savage Streets – How You Discovered It

I only discovered it recently when I was sent a DVD to look at.

Anyone lucky enough to see it in the cinema or is it all a case of buying it on DVD because of its reputation?

Had it on it's first dvd rounds.
But the first time I saw it was back in the late eighties when I lived with Linda Blair. We woke up one morning and she decided to show me it.....

On (cut) VHS in the early '90s courtesy of my friend's brother: Cheers Dave!

I'm pretty sure it was this release:

I didn't know it was cut when I watched it being young and ignorant!

It was only when I watched it again uncut when I was much older that I thought: "I'm sure that wasn't in the release that I saw!"

From my (very hazy) memory most of the rape scenes were cut. Also, I'm not sure but I think the infamous crossbow scenes were completely missing! Through 'fear of imitation', I guess...

Yeah, first time I watched it I went out and bought a 'Jimpy Bow'-fires 300 arrows per minute!

Crazy BBFC dudes eh?

That's the one I first saw too, way back in 1993! I then got the dutch video and was absolutely amazed by how much was cut! If I'm remembering correctly, I think Mark Kermode once said in a Linda Blair interview that the film was cut by about 10 minutes before the BBFC would consider releasing it. I discovered this 'classic' simply by being a Linda fan!
