Default Slaughter High – The Film Debate

If you have seen Slaughter High, what did you think of it initially and has your opinion changed over time? Where does it rank in the 'cheap and cheerful' slasher films from the 1980s?

Been years since ive seen it,but it is up there.
Not as good as friday, although Cunningham had alot to do with it i believe.
Not sure if The Burning is classed as cheap and cheerful, but as i remember Slaughter High is not a patch on old Cropsey.Still a GOOD film though!

Scared me as a kid but when I watched it again years later I thought it was trashy.

Whilst not in the same league as THE BURNING,it is still an enjoyable entry in the slasher field.

It has those hoary old cliches, some nice eye candy and a good villain.

As said in the previous thread,if you're a slice and dice fan,and you haven't seen this, then hang your head in shame and get your wallet out!

Can't a film be both trashy and scary?! Anyway, there's nothing wrong with a trashy horror movie as sometimes you need them as a bit of escapism from the much more serious ones.

I find the Harry Manfredini score so distracting! (And the fake American accents.)
As it clearly features parts of the F13th Part V score, I keep expecting Jason (Or should that be Roy?) to jump out at any minute and help Marty out! - Even after the "Jason" red Herring.
(And he did "House" around the same time which has a similar effect on me too.)

On the movie itself, it's no where near the riot that Pieces is, but bless 'em they tried, as it features about every slasher clique going.

Caroline Munro is fun as the final girl, (Gotta love that 80s jump suit) love the way she drops the baseball bat in classic slasher fashion but then goes one step further and kindly returns the javelin to Marty too.

I only saw this one recently, but thought it was a neat slasher. Very much of its time, so it might look a little dated, but don't let that put you off.

It's a good slasher movie, I reckon.

Watching this right now, about 60% thru -- yikes! Wish Dick Randall had done more to make it trashy. Actually somewhat surprised so many folks here like it so much. THE REDEEMER did it better with less.
