I like the idea of someone working on a mathematical equation and tapping into things they don't understand and accidentally summoning a demon. I like the idea of that person then having a battle of wits trying to outsmart the demon. I imagine that there's probably some classical tale penned by the likes of Poe or Lovecraft where that happens.

Imagine this as a dark little tale with a mischevious imp versus some frock coated victorian mathematician and it doesn't sound too bad. Transplant that into the eighties with Ron Glass as a "cool" demon and I thought it was pretty abysmal.

Had I not been enjoying commenting on these here at the forum I'd have probably turned this off. These shorter comedy bits remind me of the terrible Night Gallery shorts.

I hate to say it, when the demon turned up I turned it off. Not for me at all.

I love this one! One of my favourite pieces of TV comedy from the 80s! The pay-off line never fails to make me smile.
