About the Upcoming UK Cult Screenings Section- please read before posting a screening

Everyone knows that films are best viewed on a big screen, with a huge bucket of popcorn and an appreciative audience. In the Upcoming UK Screenings section of the Grindhouse Project you can find out about the cult films on the big screen in your area, and you can tell people about screenings you may be running, or have heard about.

If you know of a screening that you think would be suitable to put up in this section there are two ways you can do it:

1. Send me a private message with all of the details and I will do the rest. This is probably the best way to do it.

2. Put up the post yourself.

I have decided to edit this thread. If you have been here before you may have seen detailed instructions on how to format screening posts. I have a feeling that this rigid format may put people off posting screenings themselves. From now on if you know about a screening, post a thread in the upcoming screening section and get the details across in any fashion you wish. At some point after that I'll come along and edit it so if fits in with the rest of the threads on The GHP and add a link in the appropriate months screening list.

I look forward to reading about all the fanstastic screenings people post!

What would be great is if we could have a calendar with all these screenings in it, so people can easily see what's coming up near them

I wnder if the calendar built in the blog part of the software can be used.... Hmmm! Or what could work is an index thread for each month -easier to browse.

It should be doable assuming all users have permission to add events to the calendar

Could be an idea Robert. I tried to keep the calender up to date with DVD releases, screenings and upcoming horror stuff a while back - could be much more effective if members could add their own dates, providing it was relevant of course

I think an index thread for each month could be easily done. I would have to see what Stephan had to say about a calander, I will get on it tomorrow.

Let's try an index thread first - the point being it can easily reside within these sections whereas the calendar means we have to step out I think of this cosy nook. At some point we're hoping to upgrade the forum software which may provide the toys we seek but the problem of course is the place is so darned big now it's a scary thought.

I was thinking listing by geographical location could work as well. Even if it started as simply as up north and down south.

Could get a bit complicated but might work.

I think we can do it in two ways. Either one index thread per month - people can then check away to see if there's anything going on their way.

Or we could break it down into subsections and for that just do the countries - England, Wales, Scotland and NI and have monthly threads there but that is more work for you.

I will start with the monthly threads and then see how it goes from there.
