Oh and the full list of films across the 3 different screens that night are: 1) Clockwork Orange/Reservoir Dogs/Akira 2) Evil Dead 2/Donnie Darko/Chasing Amy 3) Mulholland Drive/Get Carter/The Wicker Man (original) 4) Freaks/Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind/Audition 5) The Great Dictator/The Ladykillers/Strangers on a Train 6) The Princess Bride/ Bicycle Thieves/ The Third Man 7) Jurassic Park /Three Colours Red/ Stop Making Sense 8) Priscilla Queen of the Desert/Once Upon a Time In The West/ The Marriage of Maria Braun 9) Goodfellas/Annie Hall/Jules Et Jim 10) Fargo/ Volver/ The Lives of Others I went to a similar event last year and it was so much fun - only stayed until 7 in the morning but am aiming for the full day this time round. Would heartily recommend to anyone in the North East - the Tyneside is such a good cinema (yesterday I noticed Newcastle's HMV had an Arrow/ArrowDrome display in store courtesy of them too) |

I'll only be there on the Saturday alas, little brothers birthday on sunday. We should have cult lab badges so other members can tell each other apart (at the price of our dignity!).

Well, just woke up after a straight 25 hours with no sleep. Fantastic event, loved every minute of it. I ended up seeing: Reservoir Dogs (10.30pm) Evil Dead 2 (1.00am) Mulholland Drive (3.00am) Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (6.00am) Strangers on a Train (8.00am) The Third Man (10.30am) I decided to give Three Colours Red a miss and go home, get a shower and lunch and come back for Once Upon a Time in the West. I ended up getting seduced by the sun, my garden, and some wine and didn't head back to the cinema until about 6 to watch: Annie Hall (6.30 pm) Fargo (9.00pm) It looks like I missed a huge amount from The Third Man to Annie Hall when you look at the screening times but it was only 2 films (Once Upon a Time..was a 35mm print so I am a bit disappointed I didn't go). All in all a fantastic night. There was a great turn-out, Evil Dead 2 had an awesome crowd who were laughing and cheering along ("groovy!" got a round of applause and some serious whopping and cheering) and the staff, as ever, were tremendous too (one of the staff who was taking tickets at the door let me in for Eternal Sunshine even though it had sold out and I didn't have a ticket as she knew not everyone would turn up even if they'd bought their ticket, which I thought was really nice) AND EVERY TICKET WAS 75P. Seeing Mulholland Drive in 35mm at 3am was a tremendous experience too! |
