I don't like the look of it. Watching the trailer made me sigh, which is never a good sign.

As it's almost upon us, I might give it a shot, the U.S. critics have panned it(no bad thing) and the makers seemed to have got the idea right(it leads right up to the start of the Carpenter film) tho one thing mentioned is it's set in Antartica, but it doesn't appear to be cold... DOH! Just got a hunch this might be okay.

Jeez, I thought this one had been and gone... This is gonna sound kinda ratty but I have no interest in seeing it, and I'm not a hater of remakes - there's been some decent ones in the last few years, but a film like The Thing was an absolute one off, one of those rare moments where everything gels...

I think a lot of people forget that quite a few critics panned the Carpenter version at the time calling it "stomach churning" or words to that effect.I'll give it a go on dvd.

John Carpenter's version is one of my favourite all time movies bt I'll give this one a go. No small effort has been made to make a movie that leads into the original remake. I've heard the score and it's no Morricone score but it'll do.

So, does this prequel tell the story of the Norwegian team who discovered the thing's ship and dug it's body out of the ice? I'm presuming it must do.

My open minded attitude to this flick has just closed sharply shut. I almost disregarded Harry Knowles' review as I find him a narcissistic reviewer more interested in telling the multi-verse about the minutiae in his life rather than getting on with the review, but his comments and this review worry me about the prequel;

As many feared it looks like this going to be ok for a casual dvd viewing but nothing more. I suspect it will show Carpenter's classic in an even better light.
