Default 'Resident Evil' - The Movies

Vlad The Impaler, I agree with you about if you know its crap and you'll still enjoy, then great
I lnew Argento's GIALLO was going to be a disappointment, but I still bought the dvd and gave since liked it the more times I've seen it, but no great film nevertheless

as regards to the studio turning down Romero's verion of RE, I read in I think Fangoria, years ago now, that his screenplay was too violent and they wanted a watered down not so violent film with an R rating, hence Paul Worthless Shit Anderson's crap

If you haven't seen it already, if you thought 'Giallo' was bad then check out the leaked trailer for 'Dracula 3D' minus the special effects (I can't post the link yet). Effects or not it looks ****ing shite!

The only way to do a faithful adaptation of the early video games is go for it balls to the wall. Considering the kind of American horror that has got R ratings the last decade like the mega lucrative Saw series then I don't see the problem. But RE was released two years before the so-called torture porn boom hit with the first in that franchise. The genre up until that point was just churning out watered down for the masses bile like all the 'Scream' clones. So from a business POV I can understand why they would go for the safe approach with Anderson to get big box office. It just sticks it to the fans though!

I'll watch it because it's Argento, but even if there was SFX in that trailer I wouldn't be getting my hopes up.

i'm a big fan of Argento, got all his films
a few have been disappointing, but i still buy them
there were loads of bad reviews about MOTHER OF TEARS, and i've said this before, yes some crazy scenes, but he delivered on the gore etc and is an excellent horror
couldn't give a toss what was said

Huge fan with Resident Evil games, how many films can you make on this idea ? Their is only so much this merchanise and story can go on:decision. After a while you know what is going to happen and get a bit fed up of the basic same concept. I only watch these films because they are not classed as scary and my children like them and they are good to start them off in the nasties world and carry on collecting the horror films until I am gone?

Well, in that case id recommend St John's Wort, it has a element of "gaming" to it's structure but it is subtitled (Japanese) if ive misunderstood,
