Default The War Movie Thread

I have a keen interest in WW2 and was never taught anything about it in history class. Im mostley interested in the third Reich (not in a i agree with hitler/skin head kinda way) and love watching war films. Just wondered if anyone else enjoys watching WW2 movies, and what your fave's are.

Mine are...

Von Ryan's Express
Where Eagles Dare

Inglourious Basterds (tarantino)
Saints And Soldiers
Saving Private Ryan

Schindler's List (yes it's a hard film to watch, but utterly Brilliant)
Band Of Brothers (if seen the whole thing 4 times and each time it gets better)

but my favourite is The Eagle Has Landed.

Whats yours?

I'm not a big war movie fan myself, but I love Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket - it's a clear favourite of mine. Some brilliant performances make for a truly unforgettable film experience imo.

AH i forgot about those two, they're great, yet with Battle of Britain Michale caine was top billing yet he carks it right at the start.

another one i forgot is Reach For The Skies, starring the great Kenneth Moore, about the life of RAF pilot Douglas Bader who lost both legs and was given fake ones. absolute classic wartime Drama.

If strictly WWII, then Cross Of Iron is tops, then
Attack!
Too Late The Hero
The Pianist
Where Eagles Dare
Au Revoir Les Enfants
Hell In The Pacific
The Thin Red Line
Hope And Glory

Does A Matter Of Life And Death count?

Sure does. Casablanca should too.

"Major Strasser has been shot. Round up the usual suspects."
