Default Fred Williamson 'Black Cobra'

Okay, now I really want to buy these as I've never seen them, and Elstree Hill have all three really cheap on Amazon. The thing is, I've heard nothing but bad things about this company, that their DVDs are practically unwatchable. Has anyone seen them? Bought them? Are they worth picking up just for a few quid? Has anyone ever issued decent versions of these films?

I see that the first film has been issued by a company called Water Fall and another called Quantum Leap but I have never heard of these so no idea if they are any good, either.

The complete trilogy sets have also been released by TGG Direct, and also Alpha Video in the US, but the last one is £35 2nd hand on Amazon, and once again I've read some bad reviews of their discs, too.

Bit of ramble this one, but any help is gratefully recieved!

Cool

I picked up 'Black Cobra' a couple of years back, it was a ntsc transfer(not to Pal just a ntsc disc) thought that was a bit cheeky. But it looked like a censored US tv print(no bloodshed or swearing whatsoever) gave it to a mate, if it's really cheap i.e. under a pound maybe, but no, bad news I'm afraid. mine was a Poundshop buy, so no tears when I saw it, just gave it away.

I have these discs and they are awful quality, and to make matters worse the first one is cut.

Damn, that's what I was worried about. It's a pity about most - all? - these Elstree discs being such poor quality as they have some interesting looking titles, most of which are available for mere pennies.

Ignoring the quality for a moment, are the Black Cobra films actually any good anyway?

If you're a fan of big Fred or Blaxploytation in general then yeah, the thing seemed sound. Youtube should have a few clips of Fred kicking arse as Cobra for you to check out. We just need a good copy to judge em better.

There is a BLACK COBRA 4 'directed' by Umberto Lenzi, which is apparently mostly made up of footage from the first 3. It's available on DVD in Italy uncut and in anamorphic widescreen......but, there is no English audio

I'm a big fan of both! They really sound like something I need to add to the collection.

Funnily enough I have just been reading about the 4th one on Wikipedia - I had no idea it even existed!
