Default Asian Action: Chocolate?

Am tempted to get this on Blu-ray as opposed to normal dvd - would it be worth it? Is the film any good?

"Chocolate" is a great little movie. It takes a while to get going but the last 40 minutes is jaw dropping stuff. I can't comment on the Blu-ray though. I'm sticking with simple old DVD for now.

Personally i thought Chocolate was pretty overrated with the female lead no doubt a skilled performer but she's no Tony Jaa.
Also, if i recall rightly the fights were choreographed by somebody other than Thai action veteran Panna Rittikrai resulting in bad guys allowing the heroine to hit them without trying to defend themselves. A pet peeve of mine also noticeable in the criminally overrated Enter The Dragon.

Chocolate certainly isn't a bad film but it doesn't hold a candle to Ong Bak and Warrior King. A case of try before you buy imo.

I agree with you there mate. Here martial arts action was pretty good for the most part, but I just really didn't feel it was coming off as spectacular! Still, what was presented was still worth the watch if you're partially to female martial arts flicks. It was also interesting to see that she did her own stunts, which you get to see the fumbles and injuries the lead actress and others went through once the credits rolled. Same as you did when you watched Rumble In The Bronx.

No offense to Tony Jaa but I would rather watch Jeeja Yanin jump around and kick ass.

Well she's definitely better looking but Tony Jaa is just that little bit more impressive to watch imo.
Don't get me wrong i've no problem with female martial artists and there's been some good ones over the years i just think Chocolate wasn't as good as we're all lead to believe. However, the film's certainly an improvement over any dire American equivalent any day!
