I don't know why, but I don't really see The Silence of the Lambs as a horror film, even though it contains all the right elements. Great choice, though.

SILENCE OF THE LAMBS easily. I had the fortune to see it in the Odeon on Renfield St. A classic, and one I never tire of watching, which incidently, looks superb in HD.

It really seems like horror was out in '91.The Silence of the Lambs and Cape Fear are two darkly disturbing films I really like, but one can of course argue if they are horror movies at all.Only La Setta / The Sect and Body Parts really made an effort in genre cinema.I'll give my two cents to Scorsese anyway.

I really like People under the Stairs, but I'm also going to go with The Silence of the Lambs which, like Se7en isn't generally considered a horror film but, with a superbly menacing serial killer, a superb screenplay and excellent direction by Jonathan Demme, it's a film I could watch almost any time and is my favourite of the year. The Silence of the Lambs

| The Sect dominates an otherwise lacklustre year for me. Silence Of The Lambs was pretty good too, though I hate how Hopkins plays Lector...I hate how Hopkins plays most parts if I'm honest! The People Under The Stairs was one of Craven's better efforts, but still a bit of a confused mess. |

Naked Lunch is horrible alright ![]() ![]() (am burroughs mad, so dont go postal)did anyone else have this experience? first heard about SOTL on (gulp) casey kasem's film prog (sundays itv aye?) and i thought hmmm big budget sequel to a favourite of mine...do i need to say the title? thought not). so i trundled along to the pictures (as we didnt get The Sect up here ) and sat with a full house (somewhere in the middle, natch). was annoyed by Foster's accent, but what really annoyed me was the fact that when bill does his "id **** me" bit they started laughing!! tension release or whatever, this ruined the film for me...but then i laughed all the way through Dracula so fairs fair i suppose.bit of a cheat but i remember watched a lot of b+w films at the start of the 90s..so can i have The Spiral Staircase instead? ![]() |
