Your Favourite Horror Film from 1992

I would have to agree entirely with the choices however the evil dead series seriously has to be one of my all time favourites so i'd have to pick AOD and as for Peter Jacksons early works i actually prefer Bad Taste to Braindead/Dead Alive.

I've tried to avoid choosing horror-comedies though I did choose The Fearless Vampire Killers as my favourite horror film from 1967) and my favourite at right horror film from 1992 would be Francis Ford Coppola's extremely good, though flawed, adaptation of Dracula. However, when it comes to favourite horror films this year, it's almost impossible to overlook Braindead, which is a superbly crafted film with humour, gore and a nice nod to King Kong at the beginning.

Ugh - not a very good year...sadly dominated by the pretty damned awful Bram Stoker's Dracula (sorry guys, I think it's a flop).

I suppose it's ultimately between Braindead and Dust Devil. I'd have to go with Braindead I guess.

Candyman and Army Of Darkness were kind of OK too.

STOP THE PRESSES! 1992 was the year of the absorbing, compelling and totally horrifying Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. That might just edge Braindead for me, actually!

That year I had an essay published in a Twin Peaks fanzine about how I believe that Fire Walk With Me was actually Lynch's only out and out horror film.

Mind you, both films need an excellent HD release in the UK as I didn't pick up FWWM when it was released and there doesn't seem to be any sign of a re-release.

Ironically I watched Fire Walk With Me just last night!

It really is such a great film... One of Lynch's best.

Candyman is one of my favourite films. Watch it regularly, but at the time Braindead was just an outstanding film. The budget couldn't have been that big but you can clearly see where 99% of it went. All on the red stuff.

The gore and the comedy worked perfectly, much like The Return of the Living Dead. Few movies can pull off comedy/horror. This was one of them. An outstanding film. Remember trying to buy an original NZ/Aussie tape at The Scala back in the day. Couldn't stretch to the 50 notes asking price.

Dead Alive, hands down. What starts off really hokey turns out super gory. Love it!!
