No this is actually the last in the original series of Zatoichi movies, Zatoichi; The Blind Swordsam was released in 1989. I think the original 1962 movie would go for slightly less than an 18 rating.

I've seen a number of the Katsu ones and he's unique but I also love Kitano's take. It's a thing of beauty.

Unjust found it to be to clean and glossy. I had the sane problem with Kill Bill, for me Samurai movies should be dark a gritty like Baby cart of the river Styx and the Katsu Zatoichi movies.

Ah, I see. My bad.

After looking it up, the one I own is from 2003 and is more of an update to the series then.
