THIS WEEK @ CULT LABS: 30 AUG 2013

Fact Can Be Stranger Than Fiction!

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the very last edition of the weekly newsletter this month! I can’t believe it’s nearly September – time flies when you’re watching movies.  The nights are drawing in, the cold will soon be upon us and we’ll all be longing for the summer months in no time soon. But what better time to snuggle up indoors with a bottle of J & B and a marathon of blood-chilling horror movies!

Things certainly get chilly with the newly released horror movie, The Dyatlov Pass Incident. We’ve all heard the strange stories and ‘unexplained encounters’ from Bigfoot to UFOs to ghosts, boogeymen and Nessie! But are you familiar with the true story of a group of hickers venturing up a Russian mountain, only to have their bodies discovered, frozen, radioactive, screaming and seemingly aged?! It’s a terrifying tale that has baffled people for decades. Now, from the director of Cliffhanger and Die Hard 2 (among other greats!), Renny Harlin gives us a freaky film that’s inspired by this creepy event. Out in stores on DVD and Blu-ray now, treat yourself if you’re looking for a horror film that’ll chill you to the bone and leave your conspiracy and paranormal senses shaken!

Unmissable TV!

There’s nothing better than being hooked on a TV show. The wait between each episode, the unbearable cliffhangers, the community! It’s great. And now there’s a new show in town that you really, really need to see. Airing every Wednesday at 10pm on Channel 5, Wentworth Prison is a fresh, clever, gritty, emotional and very naughty reboot of the hugely popular Prisoner: Cell Block H show of the late 70s and 80s. Quite simply, it is INCREDIBLE! Each Wednesday we’ll be hosting a live tweet-a-long with the #WentworthPrison hashtag, giving away prizes each week. So, come and join fellow fans and become hooked on the TV show that will be the most talked about show of the year. With it’s debut episode airing earlier this week, it took Twitter by storm. The most famous Prison is back on our small screens, updated for 2013.  Do Not Miss It! Visit the official Facebook, Twitter and the new forum for all the latest news.

#ChuckysBack

You can never keep a Good Guy down! Some of cinema’s greatest horror icons have made their violent return to the big screen in recent years and…franky failed. Whether it’s the remakes…uh, sorry, ‘re-imaginings’ (pah!)…of A Nightmare On Elm Street, Friday The 13th or Halloween, they often lack that special something that the icon embodies. Now, welcome Chucky. The world’s most notorious killer doll is back and unlike his horror icon buddies, he’s better and bloodier than ever! Rather than a rehashed sequel, Curse Of Chucky is a fresh new sequel that takes the Chuckster back to his horror roots, leaving the last installation as a distant memory – the film even mixes a healthy dose of gothic horror into the mix! Chucky is at his best here, competing with the best films of his respected peers. Visit the official Facebook page for more and to discuss your thoughts on the best horror comebacks…

The Vikings Are Coming!
