Arrow Films presents From the Director of Hatchet and Frozen and the producers of The House of the Devil Adam Green’s Hatchet II Starring Horror Icons Kane Hodder and Tony Todd

LEARN MORE ABOUT HATCHET 2 (SPOILER WARNING!)

Hatchet 2 picks up at the exact moment that 2006’s Hatchet ends, wherein the quiet but hot-tempered Marybeth (Danielle Harris, Halloween I & II) is in a small boat in the Louisiana swamps, screaming for her life as she tries to free herself from the clutches of the deformed, swamp-dwelling killer Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder, Friday the 13th).

Crowley has murdered Marybeth’s family and other fellow vacationers who had come together on tourist excursion in the swamplands outside of New Orleans.

Marybeth escapes from Crowley and manages to make it back to civilization, where she once again encounters voodoo shop proprietor Reverend Zombie (Tony Todd, Candyman), who had helped to arrange Marybeth and company’s earlier, ill-fated tour of the area. To help Marybeth and also serve his own secret agenda, Reverend Zombie recruits a hardened pack of hunters to head back into the swamp to seek revenge on Victor Crowley.

DAVID HEMMINGS 1941 - 2003

Aside from the visual genius of Dario Argento and the future proof prog-rock groove of soundtrack artists Goblin, Deep Red has another ace up it’s blood soaked sleeve, English actor David Hemmings. Hemmings, who passed on in 2003 had a life time of TV and film credits both before and behind the cameras and he was one of the iconic faces of British acting thanks to his role in swinging 60s time capsule Blow Up, a film whose convoluted narrative and plot about a man witnessing a murder certainly give a clue to why he may of found himself in Argento’s horror classic.

Other notable credits include a role in Enzo G. Castellari’s (The Bronx Warriors) crime flick The Heroin Busters, a turn in Barbarella, the kitschy and camp candy coloured Sci-Fi and Sex movie and leading roles in two of my favourite ‘Ozploitation’ titles, the demented Harlequin and the forward thinking, original if slightly wonky Vampiric conspiracy flick, Thirst.

During the 80s and 90s, he kept himself busy with TV parts and directing jobs before he returned to character roles in some big budget epics such as Gang of New York and Gladiator before his death.

Here’s a trailer reel tribute to the man…

Deep Red (cert. 18) will be released on DVD (£12.99) and Blu-ray (£16.99) by Arrow Video on 3rd January 2011.
