The Hands Of Orlac (Robert Wiene)

The old story. Famous tinkler loses his mitts ... gets new ones .... sadly they turn out to have a mind of their own ???

Wiene's use of sets here shows an technical improvement over his other films imo. Alternately spacious and opressive .... Veidt physically pre empts Udo (why no remake Werner?? ) ... whilst milking the rather thin characterisation for all it's worth. Silent films are indeed a world apart and you have to 'go with it' or you might as well pass imo.
Tis 15 minutes too long though ...... regardless ... tis filled with tricks still used today ... recommended!!!.
