What are your thoughts? Does anyone here adore this film like I do?

I think it was probably the first silent film I saw. I got the video out of the library when I was 15 or so, and it blew my teenage mind

I remember going through it, scene by scene, pausing it, and trying to draw pictures of the expressionist sets through the VHS wobble ...

Shame on you! Buy it as soon as possible - the (decent) Eureka disc is 8 bucks at Amazon.

Das Cabinet des Dr Caligari is a wonderful film - a fabulous expressionist Horror flick, totally compelling.

I'm gonna put some stills of it on the "Post Your Favourite Film Stills" thread over the next few days!

Greetings!

I must have been around 8 or 9 years old when I first saw this on telly. Not sure why I don't own it.

Yep, this and Nosferatu really are a cornerstone of any Horror collection. I'd also recommend folks track down the Swedish ghost story silent The Phantom Carriage...

It's not Horror, but Fritz Lang's 1924 fantasy Die Nibelungen is also highly recommended, and far superior to the Lord of the Rings series...

It's one of my favourite films of all time (possibly even top ten). Both beautiful and haunting.
