I like the eerie killing of Michael Hordern in the Bermondsey tenement building, though Robert Morley's pie-eating is certainly unforgettable.

As for Price, well he gave "a fascinating performance, but he was madly overacting as usual, but you must admit he did know how to make an exit."

Incidentally the stage adaptation featured Jim Broadbent as Lionheart and Rachael Stirling (Diana Rigg's daughter) as his daughter.

A British who's-who of character actors.
I revisited it again last night.
Sheer class!

First time I saw it was on Warner's Terror Vision, and was impressed how it put most of the other films in that range to shame.

Yes it's one of my top 10 all-time favourite films. A bit jarring to see it listed along with To Sir With Love, It's A Wonderful Life and Battleship Potemkin but there we go.

First time I saw it was back in the late 70's on one of BBC2's horror double bills (remember those?).

Yeah I remember those.

You just don't get value like that anymore for a telly license fee.

The nearest we get to a horror show is Big Brother and its ilk.

Someone should do a Theater of Blood on those prats.
Now that WOULD be entertaining!

Here's the brilliant (if spoiler-filled) and rarely seen Original UK Cinema Poster.

Dug this out due to my pedantic nature
A raft of stalwarts face choppy waters as a vengeful wraith from their past comes to call on a reckoning. Easily one of my fonder childhood memories is Mainwaring's maid finding his ... you know what . Ahem. A joy to rewatch.
Actor uses unique method whenst dealing with hostile critics.
