Assuming the claims are true, I don't want to watch the film and be taken away from the scenes with Father Dyer by my brain saying "child molester" to me. I can do it with Roman Polanski's films, so I hope I can separate the art from the artist in this case as well. More importantly than film, I hope the allegations are thoroughly investigated and, if found to be true, the victims have some sense of closure, an apology, and appropriate compensation. Does this mean a remake? ‘The Exorcist’ reboot in the works | Indie Mac User "Casually mentioned in tonight’s news about Amazon’s “Dead Ringers” series, Deadline has spilled the beans that production company Morgan Creek is reportedly working on a reboot of The Exorcist. The site reports, “Current Morgan Creek projects include Stay Tuned at AMC, with a planned theatrical reboot of The Exorcist in the works for 2021.” The Exorcist franchise hasn’t been on the big screen since the 2005 release of Dominion: Prequel to The Exorcist, an alternate version of the previous year’s Exorcist: The Beginning. Those films came in the wake of 1977’s The Exorcist II: The Heretic and 1990’s The Exorcist III. More recently, “The Exorcist” became a short-lived television series at Fox, which was surprisingly excellent and cleverly took place in the same world as the original classic. The series was cancelled after just two seasons. Given its status as one of the most iconic horror films of all time, it’s quite frankly surprising that it’s taken this long for The Exorcist to return to theaters. Especially after the cancellation of the Fox series, it was only a matter of time. Stay tuned for more as we learn it."

I don't think MC could remake the source novel - I'm pretty sure it'll be just a reboot of the franchise a la Exorcist The Beginning. Something new...

| No one could remake The Exorcist. It’s a bona fide one off classic.
