With the exception that they state Howie is a devout Catholic.....

Did they? I'll have to check that out but, if they did, it shows their research is sadly lacking!

They certainly did!

Perhaps it was a while since the reviewer saw it!

When I travel to 'Wickershire' in October,I'm going to try and get photos of the inside of the church where Howie is seen recieving communion.
It's located in Kirkudbright, but is very rarely open.

Whats Wickershire Reaps?

Is it a festival, or special screening of the film?

As a teenager in 1973 or 74 I managed to get in to see this despite being under-age for an "X" film. I remember being baffled to see that it was second feature to Nicholas Roeg's Don't Look Now, a film I considered vastly inferior. Of course, Roeg was a director with a rather overinflated reputation, and I guess we all know that The Wicker Man was underappreciated in its time. But yes, I agree that it's one of the best British films ever, and certainly a candidate for the best British horror film.

Nah,just my name for Pagan territory mate.

Won't be long 'till I'm away again.

Anyone else think that Hardy's article in this month's Empire is stealing a bit more of the limelight than he ought to,now that Shaffer's not here to contradict him?

he does seem a bit up his own bum bum, i think the majority of restored footage in director's cut takes away from the film rather than add to it especially howie on mainland takes air of mystery away. On a seperate note i would have loved to have seen a double bill of the wicker man and dont look now back in the day.

I'm trying to stay away from review so I can watch it with an open mind. I'll probably have low expectations and expect the worst whilst hoping for the best.
