Just out of curiousity: Did any of the locals express their thoughts on the US remake?

Yes, I was only kidding!
Yours seems to be the natural, life extending reaction.

THE WICKER MAN is an absolute classic. It's my 2nd favourite film of all time;

1. Creepshow (Romero)
2. The Wicker Man (Hardy)
3. Duel (Spielberg)

Truly a masterpiece of the genre. Lee & Woodward (Woodward especially) are fantastic and just perfect in their roles.

One of the bleakest, most disturbing and utterly brilliant endings ever.

I haven't watched all of the original Wicker Man. That ending, despite seeing it now a few times still freaks me out because of the hopelessness. I thought it was more gory than what is actually seen.

Just returned from a New Year break down there again.This time I was lucky enough to get a hold of an original shooting script for £15 in a second hand bookshop in Wigtown... Woman said it was brought in from a house clearance in Creetown.There are a lot of scenes which were never shot btw,I reckon this was down to budget/schedule restrictions....the Wicker Man enigma continues.....
