I was also reading that Ms Ekland really put the boot into the area, claiming it was one of the most dire places she had ever been, and was full of hardened drinkers. The provost for the area at the time hit back that the Swedes promote pornography and promiscuity, and the producer (I think) made a public apology, stating that whatever pimples the cold weather had put on our sassenach arses, this was nothing compared to the welcome that we have recieved. We would like to distance ourselves as far as possible from Ms Ekland and her statement.......Fun and games she created eh?

I've just been flipping through her autobiography (True Britt) and the film gets a cursory 5-line mention at the bottom of page 149. Mainly due to Ekland saying that she was pregnant while filming it, and describing the movie as "a story with paganistic overtones". She doesn't mention it again.

According to the documentary on the DVD she was something of a prima donna on the set. Ingrid Pitt was far more approachable and down to earth.

A little late in the day, but what a great thread reaper! I was disappointed when I got to the last post. You've took some fantastic pictures too and it certainly makes me want to hurry up and get up there myself. In fact it would be great if at some point a merry band of us Wicker Man worshippers could meet up for such a visit. I'd love to go to Burrowhead and group together for a rendition of Summer Is A Coming In. The Lord's My Shepherd solo set to burning flames will be the part I won't be auditioning for though

Just to second what Mike Ashley's mascot aka Dracucarr said. I think that's a great idea actually and being a big fan of The Wicker Man myself I'd be well up for that. Hopefully the hotel I stay at will have butt naked women dancing around.

By the way, judging by those photos I still think the area looks creepy, maybe it's just me though? I can't believe how much they ****ed up the remake. Unforgivable.

Agreed. Susan Penhaligon was originally mooted for the role of Mary Goodnight but when Ekland showed interest Penhaligon was dropped.
