Night of the Seagulls
Mark me down as another vote for "Night of the Seagulls". I think the unique thing about this film is that the setting, a seaside village which I believe was in Portugal, is almost as much a character in the film as any of the actors. The local architecture lends such an eerie element to the film that no studio constructed set could have. This by far the best of this great series and one of my favorite films of the 70's. |

I honestly thought I was in the minority for loving Night of the Seagulls, but it's great to see so many others appreciate it as much as I do. (Even if it didn't make my top-spot for 1975 ) |

Profondo Rosso/Deep Red is my favourite Argento, but Jaws is certainly more watchable. And the head in the boat still makes me jump! Erm...... I can't pick! |

I thought I'd go for Deep Red, but as amazing as I think it is, I feel it is over-rated (though not as much as Tenebrae - I also like Tenebrae, by the way) and not a patch on The Bird With The Crystal Plumage and nowhere near as good as Suspiria. Nonetheless it is excellent enough to take the year's best award... ...or would be if it were not for the beautiful, cold, venereal nightmare of David Cronenberg's Shivers. Shivers is the one for me for this year, and I am slightly surprised by it! |

Night Train Murders, is far better than Last House on the Left. I think Phantasm is a great original movie from the 70s, which to my knowledge no one has ever lifted from, such as the silver balls, or the concept of the movie. The only film that comes sort of close to that film, where it has that dreamlike quality involing death etc, is Fulci's The Beyond. |
