Having said that, I'd like to add that this was a fine year in terms of Horror films. The Abominable Dr Phibes, Blood on Satan's Claw, Tombs of the Blind Dead, and Twins of Evil are all excellent and must sees.

Two sleepers: The House That Dripped Blood starring many familiar faces including Lee and Cushing, and Jean Rollin's Le frisson des vampires/The Shiver of the Vampires. The first one is an Amicus anthology, and the second one is one of Rollin's more accessible works. I recommend both of them.
Gotta agree with your thoughts on Bay of Blood.

My dad has a newspaper from 1971, bought when he was in his late teens, and found an interesting listing showing what was on at the local cinema – Countess Dracula headlined the announcement.

I saw 'King Of The Grizzlies' at a cinema in Southampton when it was first released!

I don't recall if 'In Search Of The Castaways' was the second title on the bill or not

I always thought The Love Bug came out in late 70s, bet Airport would have been great to see on the big screen.
