I got the Tartan release, I tried watching it but couldn't make it all the way through.I wouldn't bother tracking down any other release as I don't rate the film at all.

It's a neat little film, I didn't really get into it the first time I sat down with it but it really grew on me.

When I finally tracked it down about 6 years ago, I didn't think that I'd like it. I loved it and watched it again the next evening with the very entertaining and amusing commentary track. The day after I bought the Headpress LHODES special and devoured it.

Last House on Dead End Steet (1977) question...

I bought the R1 Barrel dvd years ago
wish I hadn't wasted my money, the film was complete shite
even the director criticised the film himself for being too amateurish

not much difference between the R1/R2 German/UK dvds

oh the wasted money.....

Wasted money? Have you seen how much it sells for now? You could sell it now and make a tidy profit. ;)

Anyone who pays over a tenner for it must need their bumps felt. :loco: ;)

That's fine for bumpy people, but what about non-bumpy people? I find your bigotry unacceptable! Equal rights for non-bumpy people! I want my non-bumps felt too!

The A V Maniacs site is reporting that the negative for this has been found. Alas, it's the theatrical print and not the original 3+ hour CCOH version. They have also unearthed three lost H G Lewis sexploitation movies.

This film is really creepy - I must watch it again. It drips with a certain malevolence, just a really concentrated sordidness without being particularly explicit in terms of either gore / sex / sleaze. I never know whether the 'Cuckoo Clocks...' 3 hr version stuff is rumour or apocraphyl or what.

mr 420 8th April 2012 01:49 AM

The 3+ hour version of CCOH was Watkin's original cut of the film.
