hehe. Mention it and it will appear!

As I was saying, this is by far my favourite film from the list I came away with after watching Not Quite Holllywood. So eerie, love the slow build of suspense, and the final scenes are pitch perfect . . .

Haunted me for years when I saw it as a kid but missed the beginning, so never knew the title. I even wondered if I dreamt it. When I saw it again it was even better than I remembered. I LOVE THIS FILM.

It has been quite a while since I saw this when I watched the remake, a film I like quite a bit but, when I revisited the 1977 original, the atmosphere and overall creepiness really blows the remake out the water. Great film.

Yeah I heard the remake was one of those shot-for-shot jobbies, so not really that interested. Plus Jim Caviezel (or however you spell it!) is such a bland leading man . . .

It's not really a shot for shot remake in the same vein as Gus Van Sant's Psycho as there are a few more 'crimes against nature' at the beginning, the whole thing with the campervan has a slightly different element and the couple (to the best of my recollection) meet different ends in the remake. Although it's inferior, it is still worth a watch.

I'm sure it will end up on tv at some point . . .

My favourite genre movie, pitch perfect psychological horror, clelverly written, intensely acted and stylishly directed.

The remake is well enough made but a wasted opportunity, as it would have been far more interesting to add a modern, fresh approach to the whole affair instead of copying it scene by scene.

Good to see this film is held in such high esteem.
For atmosphere it's hard to whack, and the protagonists deserve what they get.

Remake?

Coudn't lace the original's boots!
Demoncrat likes this.
