Default WAKE IN FRIGHT (Ted Kotcheff, 1971)

I just wanted to add my two Australian cents to the rest of the great Oz films mentioned here. Wake In Fright has more of an arthouse bent to it, but it's an extraordinary film nonetheless, about a school teacher who gets stranded in a brutal Outback town and with nothing to do, gets drunk, gambles his money, goes on a night-time kangaroo hunt (in which real kangaroos were killed on camera), gets drunk again and is raped by Donald Pleaseance. Fans of Kafka and clastraphobic sweaty Italian Westerns will love this one, and I would highly recommend anyone interested track down the very fine Madman Blu-Ray (Coded for ABC)

I am giving serious thought to upgrading to a Blu-Ray of this. I tried to tell myself I wouldn't get sucked into upgrading DVDs to BDs, but I am failing!

This is a very good film but it packs a seriously hard punch (if you're a lover of animals).

The Australian Blu-ray, and the restoration itself, looks remarkable.

I used to own the Intervision pre-cert (under the title OUTBACK) many years ago.

Both the DVD and the BD of this one are quite hefty....anyone know where to get one for a reasonable price?

Are they out of print? I bought the Blu-ray from an Australia-based eBayer a couple of years ago. Was around £20, I think. Blu-ray looks marvellous, btw.
