I'd rate this up there with the best of Fulci's horrors - and for me that's about as good as horror gets! |
Oh aye. Of the Italian zombie movies i'd rate this very highly, and certainly the nighest non-Fulci one. I'm gonna get some flack for this but I prefer it to Zombie Holocaust. |

Like oaxaca says, it's as good as Fulci's better zombie films. |
I rate it really highly, both as a piece of filmmaking and as entertainment. |
It's moody and gory at the same time. Essential viewing for Horror film buffs. |
It's just below Zombie Flesheaters for me. Way better than Zombie Holocaust, Burial Ground etc. |

To be fair Zombie Flesh Eaters set the bar really high. So much so it would be near impossible to produce a Zombie movie quite as good. But Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue has, as others have pointed out, production values and execution far surpassing that of Zombie Holocaust and Burial Grounds. Not that theirs anything wrong with those movies I might add, but their are two kinds of Italian zombie movie. Thise that set out to milk the budget as much as possible and produce something original, and then theirs the cheap-as-chips one's with shockingly poor effects. |
Taking into account the film as a whole, I much prefer Manchester Morgue to Zombie Flesh Eaters. The set-pieces are more effective in Fulci's film though, however that can be said about a great deal of his output to be honest. |
