Yeah, but it worked its reddish magic well enough in the "good, old days".... "Tombs" is really great, albeit a bit too long for its own good.... |

Not really a fan of the Blind Dead apart from Night of the Seagulls

I'd love to see if the BBFC would pass Tombs uncut now or in the near future.

I really enjoyed the first and second films, but the first pips it for me. The third was pretty painful but it got back on track with the fourth entry.

It's a seedy scene for sure (and completely unnecessary IMO) but I have a feeling it would pass intact now.

Time to dust this thread off.... How do some of the newer members rate these classic films?

I personally love them - but I do like a lot of Spanish horror films. My favourite Blind Dead film is probably Night of the Seagulls... I just love the atmosphere throughout, plus some of the cinematography is excellent - particularly some of the beach scenes. It almost has a Spanish Hammer vibe to it! |

I still can't understand why they cut it in the first place.

Since the BBFC's policy is to remove images which eroticise or endorse sexual violence there was never any question that the scene was going to be cut. Similar cuts had already been made to several other films eg Iron Fisted Monk, Angel Guts Red Classroom and Angels Wild Women, so if they were going to be consistent then Tombs had to be cut. The BBFC might have accepted the sequence if it was a long shot but a violent rape focusing on forcible breast exposure and groping of breasts shown in lingering close up never really stood a chance at the time. As to whether it would pass now remains to be seen. I wouldn't place any bets on it though.

Superb creations, the Knights Templar. I first came across them in an old Alan Frank horror book in the seventies.
