The Satanic Rites Of Dracula (1973)

The penultimate Dracula film from Hammer. I've been re-watching all the Dracula films from Hammer recently, and I watched Satanic Rites yesterday. I love this one and I think it's the best one since Hammer's original Dracula. Ok Dracula isn't in it all that much, but I love the melding of contemporary 1970's Dracula and a germ warefare Spy Thriller.

Having William Franklyn, as an SIS agent, in the cast helps too. Franklyn would have made a superb James Bond for the late 1950's to mid 1960's. Go and watch Pit Of Darkness (1961) to see what he could have been like as 007.

Its wierd but i always think of this as the final Dracula film.

I guess i don't count anyone playing Dracula for Hammer who isn't Sir Christopher.

Great film, I like all the Hammer Dracula & Frankenstein films, in fact I can't think of a Hammer film I don't like

She.

Very boring.

Vengeance of She is even worse.

I haven't seen either, but thanks for the heads up as I've had She on my Amazon wishlist about 2 years now

No you're right, it's as boring as hell other than the opening scenes.

Satanic Rites of Dracula?-Brilliant!

Although this one isn't that well regarded by everyone, it seems, I've always been fairly fond of it. John Cavavas' score was great, and Caroline Munro was, well....:woot:
