Remember list sizes allowed is any number between 25 to 100. If you don't think you like 25 horror films from the 80s, I encourage you to watch as many 80s horror flicks as you can between the deadline. That's what I'm doing. Also talk about what you watched in this thread, let's create a dialogue.

Great film, and the use of Iron Butterfly's "Inna Gada Da Vida" during the movie's climax is inspired

Certainly up there with the "Freebird" sequence in 'The Devil's Rejects'
Daemonia and Slippery Jack like this.

I see alot of people listing Blue Velvet in their lists. Whilst I don't necessarily consider it 'horror' as such, you people are certainly swaying me...

Mr Eye - define 'horror'!

I remember when I was at college, we had a discussion regarding 'horror' films. The usual topics came up - 'Zombies', Dracula', 'Frankenstein', 'werewolves' etc

However, I suggested (and maintain) that those kind of films are NOT horror films, but actually fantasy films. Horrific and scary maybe, but essentially fantistique

As far as I'm concerned, TRUE horror films are things like 'The Godfather', 'Taxi Driver', 'Texas Chainsaw', 'Apocalypse Now' - i.e things that could and DO happen.

In view of MY definition, I would say that 'Blue Velvet' is certainly a horror film

Pretentious and over-rated, of course, but definitely a horror film

Horror is way too subjective to define... every individual has their own definition of what constitutes horror (just as you've demonstrated in your post above Ms. Jackson ).

A lot of the films I have and will list as horror will undoubtedly be questionable to others (just like Pedro's opinion of Aliens and They Live not being horror a few posts back), although I find genres by definition (especially where cinema is concerned) pretty hard to define; mainly because there is so much overlap, and room for interpretation.

Taking all the above into account, I don't really care for categorising by genre at all.
