Fright Night is one of my favourite films - I love Eighties vampire movies and this one is the most fun for me. It's beautifully written, wonderfully acted and it's got that loveable 80's vibe in abundance. Chris Sarandon is for me, the ultimate smoothie vampire, and the good guys are genuinely sympathetic. Great soundtrack, classic dialogue, brilliant supporting characters (Evil Ed! Billy Cole!)....I can honestly say I have nothing bad to say about this film. It is a gem.

Honestly? I was a bit let down by it...I'd been led to believe it was a somewhat campy take on the traditional Vampire story. Not in the same way that "Dracula Dead and loving it is campy" but in a knowing sort of "Childs play 2" kind of tongue in cheek self awareness...but for me most of the humour failed to land, some of the serious moments I was supposed to feel for the cast ended up leaving me feeling a bit cold and considering how great the character concept for "Peter Vincent" is I actually found him woefully underused and they spend so much of the movie trying to get him convinced that vampires exist that by the time he finally does step up to the plate it was all too little too late...I cant fault the direction or the cine...but yeh...this one wasnt my cup of tea...it was alright...but just not too memorable for me sadly...
