I've never understood the love for this one. The novel is excellent though.

Love the film but it's not a patch on the book. Love the whole adversary cycle by the same author would make a great group of films or tv show

Mann is hit-or-miss for me. Loved 'Heat', absolutely despised 'Collateral'.

A very average director in my opinion. All of his films that I've seen fail to elevate themselves above the 5-6 out of 10 range.

As for The Keep, it had promise and some of the visual effects are quite interesting but aside from that it is a bit a snooze-fest. A little messy too. I haven't read the book so cannot comment on whether that is any better.
