I had that one years ago, unfortunately like so many VHS tapes it eventually gave up the ghost. Still got the HMV edition with the stereo sound though. Unfortunately wide screen it ain't... Slightly less footage than the CIC too.

Sure I paid forty-odd-fifty quid for that CIC tape....

This would have apparently been the original ending planned for The Keep which shows Glaeken (Scott Glenn) leaving by ship with his lover (Alberta Watson) and her father (Ian Mckellen).

I have a copy of the SD Sky broadcast. It's in great condition and in 2.35 aspect ratio. I also had the VHS a while ago (had no idea it was so rare!) and got rid of it as the film just didn't work for me.

But I watched the Sky version recently and totally loved it. The music, the locations, look and feel of the film grabbed me completely and I'd love to see a full bells and whistles Arrow release.

Has anyone considered that Mann might not want the film released? Maybe he doesn't like it?

I would definitely be up for a release of this one. I haven't seen it in years and don't even know if I still have my VHS copy.

Interesting to see that The Keep is now available for streaming via Netflix:
Netflix: Rent as many movies as you want for only $8.99 a month! Free Trial

A sign of movement towards a release on the packaged media front?
I would love Arrow to bag this for a UK exclusive BD release...

Agreed.A restored Director's cut along with the theatrical version would be amazing.

I have a love hate relationship with this film. I love the book it's based on and I love many things about the movie, the monster for instance is better in the film. But the things that really bug me is the incomprehensible choice to have every character speak with an American accent. It's especially weird with Ian McKellen's character, a british actor playing a eastern european jew speaking with an american accent.
And I loathe Tangerine Dream and everything they do. It's especially distracting to have an 80's synth soundtrack in a WW 2 horror film.
But I have the Laserdisc and a widescreen boot that looks better than the laser. I'm hoping that one day they will release the longer intended cut.
Anyone know where I could get a hold of the script?
