ARGH!!! It's "tetralogy"!!!! (Sorry, bugbear of mine! )

I've seen the first one, and as clumsy amateurish 80s slashers go (and there were many!) it's quite involving and enjoyable. Never understood the big deal about the ending (which is well filmed), which I seem to recall was quite predictable.

My fave scenes are the ones with the awesome, crazy aunt!

The Sleepaway Camp series is one of my favorites, for years I'd only seen the 2nd and 3rd installments, which i fell in love with, then i watched the original. when i heard part 4 was coming, i was looking forward to it, and while i did enjoy it, and the returning original cast, it was just not the same.

the 2nd: Unhappy Campers and the 3rd: Teenage Wasteland were very closely related... probably because of Pamela Springsteen, who is superbly funny as Angela in these movies. They were shot back to back which is probably why they run so closely together... the 2nd is defo my favorite tho.

Fave deaths:

Part 1. hard to choose, but I'll say when Meg (that's M-E-G) was stabbed... though the bees nest death would be painful.
Part 2. Even more inventive series of events, but I'll chose Ally's demise.... heavily cut when i first watched it on VHS... i was thrilled when i finally saw it, in the cut version i saw they cut after she'd been stabbed...
Part 3. possibly Bobbies death... arms yanked clean off... ouch! or maybe how lily dies...
Part 4. i don't remember too clearly, but i seem to remember a bed with lots of blades falling on top of the obnoxious camp bully, so I'll choose that one...

there was a movie partially made called Sleepaway Camp : The survivor, but it was never completed (and doesn't sound too exciting) this would have slotted in between 3 and 4.

And I've heard of two more sequels coming... one set after the fourth (which skips events from 2 and 3) and one set after the third... ones called Berserk?? dunno if production continues or not, but I'd love to see em! anyone have any news on this? i'd appreciate it....

The footage shot for the 4th uncompleted film was spliced together around a framing device to make a film and released on manafacture to demand DVD-R via Amazon a year or so ago. Released after Return to Sleepaway Camp and supposed to be a right mess:

Sleepaway Camp IV: The Survivor

Thanks for the info! i just checked out your link and read some of the reviews.... sounds terrible! - i usually don't pay any attention to reviews but i always knew if this did get a release it'd be much like it is.

I remember researching this around 2005ish and it sounded bad then, tacking in flashback sequences does not a movie complete! - I'd give it a watch if i could find it on YouTube, but i don't reckon I'll be splashing the cash for it.... thanks anyway guys!

I quite like Sleepaway Camp. It's not great, I'll grant you, but it's so politically incorrect I just can't help liking it.

I love the first three films. And Felissa is a real sweetheart. I just really despised the fourth film.

I've only seen the first 3, saw part 2 back in the late 80's when an old school friend of mine robbed a load of his older brothers videos for us to watch, it was called Nightmare Vacation 2 and I had no idea it was Sleepaway Camp 2 until many years later when I saw it again under the SC title. He also snook out copies of Robocop, Predator, The Running Man and Die Hard, pretty good viewing for a pair of 9 year olds!
Criterion7 likes this.

Not seen the recent output but I do enjoy the originals, both the dark first film and cheesy sequels. Managed to get the short lived ABUS boxset with red cross.
