Yes it's a great little story. Takes the form of a series of letters ("Dear Bones") from what I recall. Have to dig that out for a re-read now.

His books are really top stuff.

I like the majority of his films/TV adapts. Classics for me are: It, The Mist (truly amazing), Dreamcatcher (not everyone likes this, i love it!), Nightmares and Dreamscapes (incredibly good series), Christine, Stand By Me, Misery, Silverbullet, Cat's Eye, Creepshow(s), and perhaps Carrie.

His lesser known stuff is still good (Thinner, Needful Things (classic!), Desperation, Tommyknockers etc).

There are some clunkers (Trucks, Mangler (I don't dislike it though)).

I watched The Stand recently. When i was growing up this was one of my greatest "films", oh man, it hasn't dated well. Still love it though!

I'm missing a handful of his work.

Highly recommended. Christopher Walken's low-key performance makes the movie, and the ice cold setting is atmospheric.

The film alters the ending of the book but for me it (unusually) improves it.

I could not agree more with you!!
I'm kicking myself for not seeing this at the cinema. I shugged it off as a Fog rip-off and didn't realise it was King! Ooops....

Another worthy mention is 1408, good recent big budget scare flick. Ooooo ooo just remembered, Apt Pupil, Hearts of Atlantis and Secret Window are all decent big/fair-sized budget adapts too!!

APT Pupil was a great film and Secret Window was entertaining enough, agreed.

Dead Zone as Vinz mentioned, is fantastic too - great score by Michael Kamen!

And I'm man enough to admit that the end of Stand By Me always brings a little tear to my eye.

Considering his young demise the scene where River Phoenix simply walks off and disappears is a poignant & moving moment too.
