Default GALAXY OF TERROR Bruce Clark 1981

Watched the new release of the Corman produced GALAXY OF TERROR yesterday,and I'm glad to report that it looked great!
I'm sure Stevoj and others will testify to the quality of the BD versions,but anyone wondering about the standard release DVD's,then don't:-they look great! And the extras are superb!

The film itself,whilst obviously a low budget ALIEN rip-off is fantastic fun,with a cult cast to die for!
The documentary is fantastic.Even back then,James Cameron was a cocky son of a bitch!
Any other fans of this '80's fave?

Yep,I'm sure the dvd looks good too. Amazing thing about the film is how many of the shots were replicated by Cameron in Aliens. From the look of the corridors, to the tracking shot at the beginning of the film that was almost excatly the same as the one from The Director's Cut of Aliens as we first pan acoss LV-426 to the colonists outpost of Hadley's Hope. I suppose if you're going to steal, you may as well steal from yourself!

Corman really knew how to stretch a budget!

Interesting snippet on the doc;

According to the director,Corman hired out various sets to a large Japanese corporation,who were filming an expensive commercial.
Apparently,he recouped the total cost of filming Galaxy of Terror from it!

I remember the old UK pre-cert video of this on Warner Home Video - the releae had the maggot-rape scene cut!

The Corman disc is beautiful....the quality makes GALAXY OF TERROR look like it was made yesterday!!!

Always enjoyed FORBIDDEN WORLD (aka MUTANT, also available) and TITAN FIND as slimey ALIEN rip-offs more....

... it wasn't ridley scott who got ripped-off by galaxy of terror, it was roger corman who got ripped-off by the looks of it ...

... considering the major talent employed to make the movie, galaxy of terror should have been the best of the alien clones. instead, based on what was described by the crew, the production was hijacked by a mutinous special effects team led by james cameron that was intent on showing us all the stellar size of their dicks. the movie is basiclly an advert for the special effects magicians who worked on the film who didn't care if the final product they delivered to corman worked as a proper movie that audiences would enjoy ...

... the new dvd release is a joy to behold and the stories behind the queer movie are as good or better than the movie itself. and even considering how weird galaxy of terror is it's probably still the best of the alien clones in terms of the beautiful alien-inspired production design ...
