It would be nice if Paramount would licence the film to Legend Films as they've released Mandingo finally uncut & a decent version of The Skull (1965)You'd think Paramount would have a decent 25th Anniversary version of The Keep lined up this year .Apparently a 3 hour (!) cut was screened in Britain this year though it would need confirmation.

I love Stephane Piter's dvd case designs for a 25th Anniversary edition:-

Although the SE will feature some of the missing footage it will be presented as extras. Sadly not incorporated into the film itself.

According to Lionsgate the film itself will be the same R-rated print as before. Some (no idea if all) of the cut footage will be included as extra features.

A friend of mine emailed Lionsgate and was told that the excised footage will be presented as an extra but not reinstated into the film itself. Seems like a wasted opportunity to do a proper restoration job. So for anyone to claim it's getting an uncut release isn't quite true. Whilst the footage will be presented on the disc, the film itself will not be uncut.

It could be looked at as a wasted opportunity but I'm not all too fussed. As long as the cut footage is on the disc then I'll settle for that because I've waited a very long time to see this footage and the wait is finally over I hope. I'm also happy there is gonna be special features, I'm hoping it includes interviews with all the key people involved with the film. So yeah if the gore is reinserted into the film then perfick, if not then and it's used as an extra then it ain't the end of the world.
