Default The 'Nightmare On Elm Street' Thread

One, two, Freddy's coming for you,
Three, four, better lock the door,
Five, six, grab a crucifix,
Seven, eight, gotta stay up late,
Nine, ten, never sleep again!

What with the remake out on friday, let's take a trip down Elm Street - just don't fall asleep!

So, here's a thread for all your Freddy chit-chat.

What's your fav NOES film?

Anyone seen the TV show?

Read any of the books?

Any merchandise?

Yadda yadda yadda.

I quite enjoyed the original but that was it really. The character just became too ridiculous for me.

Didn't like the comedy, Vince? Funny that (!) since I luv his witty one liners in the later ones.

Only ones I enjoyed were 1, 3 and 7.

Comic freddy got a bit boring after a while.

I quite like the first one, apart from the "we've run out of ideas" tacked on ending. I don't think I even bothered with any of the actual sequels, I certainly don't remember seeing any of them...

...but I consider Wes Craven's New Nightmare to be a classic of modern horror and by quite some distance Wes Craven's best film. It's not really part of the series though.

Oh no...wait...I saw Freddy Vs Jason (which I had forgotten about till I saw the poll!).

I seem to recall thinking it was affable enough fun, if total nonsense.

Yeah the ending of the first one does seem a bit of a let down - seemed to much like Home Alone or....The Last House On The Left!

New Nightmare certainly is a brilliant film, and one of my fav Freddy films as well. Good call!

What does everyone think about the popularity of Freddy? I mean merchandise is one thing, but music videos! IMO, Freddy is probably the most infamous of all the slasher icons.

Sorry, that would be me. I didn't think it was that bad - much better than Freddy's Dead. A lot better than the other Vs movie released around the same time - Aliens Vs. Predator

I see you're not a fan of the franchise gag
